Wow with an intro of stars like that how can you go wrong....well you cant.  I adore this movie.  Mel Brooks did a great job directing and Gene Wilder moves this thing along at a great pace.  Your never bored, and the laughs come steady.

Run out and watch it.

MacDowell is struggling in a crappy marriage to a misogynistic caricature.  Spader is the mirror that MacDowell needed.  Once she saw her life reflected back at her, her life was never the same.

Winner at Sundance of the Audience award, this is the one that makes you think.

Enjoy.

And the feminism on a woman's role in a highly sexualized male world will appeal to all ages.  Are we to be tramps or pillars of salt?  Or should we strive to regain our humanity, get in touch with our sexuality and strive for relationships that satisfy us on more than a monetary level?

The Freshman (1990)

IMDB LINK

Stars:  , ,

I adore this movie.  Up and comer Broderick with the ageing Brando, can it get an better in 1990?

Brando is able to poke fun at himself.  I didn't let anyone in my house watch this until the Godfather series was watched and absorbed.

This is a great little snap shot in time, before cell phones and google and facebook.  And you really get to see how impossible this plot would be with the social media and technology of today.

Go watch and enjoy !!!!!

Lethal Weapon (1987)

Mel Gibson, and Danny Glover kick ass from the opening scene to the last one.  This aciton packed movie is fast paced and a thrill from start to end.

A must see for the action lover and a great 1980's flick.

Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986)

IMDB LINK

Mathew Broderick, Ben Stein, and a quest spot by a young Charlie Sheen.

Comedy that stands the test of time.  Like a good old Kate Hepburn movie, this will stand the test of time.

Carpe Diem....Broderick teaches us all to enjoy each day.  Stop and smell the flowers.

Not an award winner, not a flick that was going to sweep the Oscars, but a movie that has stayed relevant, made its way onto the AFI top 400 movies of the past 100 years.  So there.

Go buy or rent this and laugh your butt off.

I recommend watching it with some teens in highschool, greade 11 or 12.  They get it more than you will if your over 30.  Adults are sucky, commercialist, unobservant, sneaky or materialistic snobs.

The Last Starfighter (1984)

IMDB LINK

Wow, this thing is horrific and a long way from Star Wars.

It stinks from start to finish.

At the same time, as i was forced to watch it, i found myself paying attention at some point.

i would say only watch this only if there is nothing else to watch or read or do.

The Iron Giant (1999)

IMDB LINK

What a great little flick.

Its my daughters favourite, even though she is a cool teenager.

Sad and dark at times, and not for little sensitive kids.

It was just a good Sunday afternoon sofa watching movie.

Iron Man 3 (2013)

IMDB LINK

Gotta say, what a totally cool action movie.

This was by far the best of the ROBERT DOWNEY movies.

A must see for the action genre fan.

Go see it, and enjoy in 2D or 3D.

The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)

The only thing positive i can say about this is that its the last of the three parts.

Mr Frodo finally makes his delivery, after 6 or 7 hours of wandering through all four seasons.

OVER and OUT.

The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (2002)

This series is not about the Tow Towers.

This series wouldn't even exist if it wasn't for these stupid idiots.

Edit these two towers of bumbling choices out of the series and the hobbit dude makes it to the volcano without event.

Frodo could probably get it on with Sam along the way.

AVOID, YAWN.

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (2001)

Grab ahold of your Ring folks.

I fall into the WTF camp on this series.

A group of closeted hobbits wandering hills and dales to deliver a ring is PAINFUL to watch.

To be honest i don't think i have ever made it out of the dang Shire.

This series is like a sleeping pill for me.

AVOID.

Run, hide and tell your loved ones you have seen it already.

Bringing Up Baby (1938)

CARY GRANT  and KATHERINE HEPBURN are adorable in this oldie.

Made in 1938, directed by HOWARD HAWKS this flick was a flop at its release like such movies as Singin in the Rain and The Wizard of Oz.

This oldie is hysterical. a must see.

CARY GRANT uses the word GAY for the first time in cinematic history to know more than "Happy".

Endure the high jinx of KATHERINE HEPBURN and laugh all the way through.

Watched this again after not seeing it since 1996.

Held up to the test of time.

It was a good little movie, sports drama for men, chick flick romance for the soft of heart.

And it was worth watching with my teen so she now sees where the pop culture lines "Show me the money" and "You had me at hello" came from.

It is probably one of the best Tom Hanks movies i can think of.

Not a fan of his Mission Impossible series and so many of his other movies are too sappy.

This is sappy, but in a comical way.  I adore a movie that reminds to make me laugh as well as pull at my heart strings.

Watch with your BFF.

I did.

The Big Wedding (2013)

IMDB LINK

Cast

Cast overview, first billed only:
Robert De Niro ...
Don
Katherine Heigl ...
Lyla
Diane Keaton ...
Amanda Seyfried ...
Topher Grace ...
Susan Sarandon ...
Robin Williams ...
Father Moinighan

You would think that with a cast like this the movie would ROCK.

On the contrary, the movie was a few good giggles, but mostly was sadly predictable.

Worth seeing at home, but I wouldn't doll out the cash to see it in the theatre.

What do you think???

Bride Wars (2009)

IMDB LINK

A big hit with my teen daughter.

And this may be the only Anne Hathaway movie I can stand.

Kate Hudson and Anne do a OK job.

Not a must see by any means.

Just an OK movie, in a pinch.

The Birdcage (1996)

IMDB LINK

Robin Williams is so perfect as this gay man in a relationship to a Drag Queen.

Also, OMG, could Nathan Lane or Gene Hackman be any cuter.

A interesting peek into 1996 and how the extreme right wing politicians of the USA persecute those in the fringes, like gays.

Oh wait, that could be 2013.

Funny, and so accurate as to all the Drag Queens I know.

A great laugh, go get it, watch it, and drink every time you hear a scream or shriek.

Throw Momma from the Train (1987)

IMDB LINK

1987 Danny DeVito and Billy Crystal

What more can one say.

Billy is neurotic and adorable at the same time.

Danny is a cross of rain man and Norman Gates.

This quirky little movie is a must see once.

Watch it when your in a little bit of a goofy mood.

Ignore the hair and fashion of the 1980's.

Love to hear your comments.

The real star of the movie is Anne Ramsey, epic nagging mother.  She is the backbone that the movie is built on.

Fletch (1985)

IMDB LINK

This may of been a product of the flu i was suffering from, but this movie made me giggle.

Chevy Chase never had a career in the movies, but all the same, this movie was his best.

Just a vehicle of his SNL gags and like Wayne's World for Mike Meyers.

All the same if your home sick try this one, a good little flick that will not require a lot of brain power to get through.

Speed 2: Cruise Control (1997)

IMDB LINK

OK, take one mediocre movie from the early 90's and then redo it....OMG.....this was horrific.

The only reason i got through this was because i had a fever of 105 and could not reach the remote.

Please don't.

Its time you never get back.

Shame on you Willem Dafoe and Sandra Bullock !
